Not Your Average Guided Journal

How to use:

  • You have 10 daily entries. You measure each entry from 1-10 using a highlighter to give yourself a bar graph-style visual.

  • For each entry, 1 is the lowest score you can give yourself, and 10 is the highest.

  • The total number of points you can have for each day is 100.

  • So for each day, you give yourself a score from 1-10, answer the question that follows each entry, and then tally up your points for a total daily score.

  • After the 10 daily entries you will see a family tree-style graph. This is the words system.

  • The words system starts with your core emotion for the day, or whatever you’re feeling during the time of writing.

  • Once you write your core emotion down, you’ll have 3 prompts underneath it that ask about the imagery you envision when it comes to this emotion, why you think you are feeling this emotion, and when (more so meaning what time of day) you are feeling this emotion.

  • Your entries are supposed to consist of one word, or one short sentence.

  • After the “imagery, why, when” prompts you’ll see boxes underneath them. You can go into a little more detail here. But again, only short, clear, and concise sentences.

  •  After going into more detail in the boxes you’ll see “envision the opposite” where you will write down the opposite of whatever you write down in “imagery”.

  • You will see “how can you process this?” Which refers to how can you process why you feel this way.

  • Then you’ll see “when do you not feel like this?” Which pertains to the time of day that you don’t feel the way you’re feeling in the passage.

  •  Finally, under those you will see “desired emotion”. This is where you’ll write down how you want to feel.

  • The last question is “how can you make that an achievable goal?” This is where you’ll write a sentence or two on how you can realistically achieve what you’re wanting to.

  • After each week you will see an empty bar graph.

  • Each bar graph measures your score and what day you had that score.

  • You will find the corresponding day and score and put a dot. After you have completed all of the daily entries for the week, you will connect those dots to give yourself a visual of what your progression/regression looks like throughout the week.
